Outsource the right way – SITOC and The RSA
Take the example of The RSA (The Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce). Their mission is to enrich society through ideas and action – and they have a proud 260-year history. As you would expect, they have an excellent IT team. And there are times when that team needs to expand rapidly to accommodate a major project.
Recently, The RSA had approximately 170 users migrating from a traditional exchange to Microsoft Office 365. Colin Banfield, IT Manager for RSA, says, ‘It is in projects like this where the RSA calls upon the experience of SITOC.’ SITOC engineers built a hybrid cloud and on premise infrastructure solution; allowing the RSA the flexibility and resilience of cloud applications, while maintaining the control and security of retained hardware.
SITOC also integrated Office 365 with the RSA’s preferred single sign-in application. ‘We have benefited from being able to call on SITOC’s support to resolve difficulties that arose during the implementation.’
RSA staff ran the migrations, but SITOC were able to provide:
• Software integration
• Auto-discover scenarios
• Education and instructions
• And a planned infrastructure to support the work
Colin concluded by saying, ‘Although they are an external service provider, SITOC are an integral part of the RSA’s IT Support team.’
